The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts has announced its 2026-27 Arsht Impact season, a slate of free and pay-what-you-can programming that pushes beyond the downtown Miami campus and into neighborhoods across Miami-Dade County, WLRN reported this month.
The lineup leans heavily on the county’s cultural mosaic. Calpulli Mexican Dance Company marks Día de Muertos on Nov. 1, gospel showcases spotlighting South Florida choirs are set for Dec. 12 and Feb. 7, Miami’s Ground Zero Crew brings hip-hop and breaking culture to the stage April 17, and Tradisyon Lakou Lakay celebrates Haitian heritage on May 22 — a nod to the county’s deep Haitian-American community.
Several of the center’s signature community events return with milestone editions. Heritage Fest, the center’s Black History Month celebration, reaches its eighth year on Feb. 20, 2027. Gospel Fest Miami returns for a third annual weekend June 19-20, 2027, and the CommuniTEA Dance, the center’s LGBTQ+ Pride celebration, marks its 10th year on June 6, 2027. AileyCamp Miami — the center’s summer dance intensive rooted in the Alvin Ailey tradition — closes its 19th year with a final performance July 24, 2027, followed by Art + Mind Day, focused on arts and wellness, on Aug. 7, 2027.
Taking the Stage on the Road
A centerpiece of the season is Arsht on the Road, a touring series that carries free performances into communities around the county, with dates including Oct. 18 and Feb. 21 among a half-dozen scheduled stops. The center is also continuing Arsht Plus, a set of interactive pre-show experiences — artist talks, dance lessons and live music — attached to 10 performances throughout the season, according to the center’s announcements.
The stakes for access are not small. The Arsht says its Impact programming currently provides free access to the arts for more than 42,000 community members each year and reaches roughly 80,000 students annually through its education initiatives. Since opening in 2006, the center counts more than 1 million community connections through free and subsidized programming — a significant figure in a county where ticket prices at major venues can put live performance out of reach for many families.
The free season runs alongside the center’s marquee ticketed slate, including the Broadway in Miami series, which opens Sept. 29 with “Buena Vista Social Club,” the Tony-winning musical built on the beloved Cuban songbook — a fitting opener for a Miami audience.
